Ms. Judy...

For those of you who have read my book Taxicab Testimonies... Ms. Judy is featured in a chapter titled "Gayle". Her and I joined together in prayer for her friend who had gone missing.

It was November 14, 2023.... I received a phone call from an elderly woman requesting I deliver some items to her home. I told her I'd be by in a few hours with her delivery. She responded telling me she would be next door at her neighbor's house at that time exercising but she would take her cordless phone over with her to be sure not to miss me.

To be honest with you... I thought I was being pranked. I contemplated things and ultimately decided to go ahead and proceed. When I arrived, I was met by a frail woman with a huge smile. She was so happy to have found a delivery service in her small town.

Ms. Judy became a regular customer. She was always delighted to see me and loved chatting with me about Jesus. Even more so, she appreciated our prayer time together. Before parting ways, she would always ask me to pray for her and her son.

When Christmas came, she always made sure to give me a gift. One year it was a white blouse, size small. The following year she gave me a bottle of Vaseline lotion. She always made me smile and I appreciated her so much.

Over time, Ms. Judy began to share with me how alone she felt. Her son lived many states away. Her sister whom she spoke with often had recently died, and so did her cat that kept her company. Her only friend was the man next door whom she spent almost every day with.

This past Thanksgiving, Sedrick and I delivered meals to her home for her and her neighbor. When we arrived, she didn't answer the door. I assumed she was having fun over with her neighbor. We left her bag on the table outside her door. I had tried to call her several times but she didn't answer. I was sure she'd see them when she got home.

After a long day of preparing and delivering meals, I was on my way home when the Holy Spirit began to speak to me about Ms. Judy. He told me to go back to her house to check on her. I didn't want to. I had already passed by and was so close to home. I was tired, hungry, and just wanted to relax. But I obeyed. I turned around and returned to Ms. Judy's home. The house was dark and the bag of meals were still outside. I knocked on the door but no one answered. I had a bad feeling and I didn't like it.

I went next door to ask her neighbor friend if he'd heard from her. Much to my surprise, he told me she hadn't been over in several days and he couldn't get ahold of her by phone either. I immediately suggested we contact the cops and have them do a welfare check. Since he had a key we went together to do our own check on her. I had a terrible feeling in the pit of my stomach as thoughts filled my mind of what we might find.

We unlocked the door to find a chain lock preventing us from going in. I called out her name.... Ms. Judy.... and she responded. She was in her bedroom and wanted to be alone. She requested I bring her some soda, which I slipped inside her door along with her Thanksgiving meal. I assured her that I loved her and told her to call me if she needed anything. Her friend had warned me that she gets very depressed around this time of the year and she would come out of this rough time she was going through.

As I drove home I prayed for Ms. Judy. My heart was heavy. Holy Spirit spoke through me as I prayed. I don't remember exactly what the words were coming out of my mouth that night... but it was whatever God needed me to speak.

A couple days ago, I stopped by to drop off a Christmas gift for precious Ms. Judy. I knocked and once again, she didn't answer. I went next door to talk to her friend. When he answered the door I asked him how Ms. Judy was and if he'd spoken to her. He stepped outside, took his glasses off and told me she had passed away that evening after we left her house. He had gone in the next morning to find her laying on the floor. My heart broke in that moment and it took everything in  me to hold back the tears.

Ms. Judy is just one person whose life was affected by my "Yes" to Jesus. Holy Spirit sent me there that night because my prayers were needed to intercede for this precious woman in her final hours. I'd like to believe that by me showing up, Ms. Judy passed away knowing someone cared and loved her. It's imperative that when God speaks, we listen and we immediately obey.

Every person reading this has a call on their life and every one of you have many people's lives attached to your obedience to God. The Lord has used me several times to intercede for an individual in their final hours.... even my own father. There are individuals in your life that need your obedience to Jesus. I encourage you to seek God, listen when the Holy Spirit is speaking, and give Him your immediate obedience.

I pray this has blessed you!

Much love,
Holly M <3
